1. What is the Public File

Every commercial Station in the UK requires by Ofcom to have a 'Public file'  The Public file contains elements which Ofcom review including Music tracks played, Local news , Radio schedule and other details.

The hard copy of the public file is available on request by writing to our usual address which is at the bottom of this file

    

 

 

2. News Bullitins

Local News Bulletins in English are broadcast from 7am – 6pm  followed by Urdu / Bengali / Gujrati News in the evening, subsequently IRN news is taken at the top of the hour through until midnight.

Below are some of the stories we have covered in the past:

Joe Geeling :

A 15-year-old has pleaded guilty to the murder of an 11-year-old boy.

Joseph Geeling was beaten.stabbed and then left in Whitehead Park in Bury on 1st March 2006.

Michael Hamer – 14 at the time of the incident – admitted murder before the start of his trial at Manchester Crown Court.


Veil:

There’s a call for politicians to keep out of the row over religious rights. It’s after the Government’s race minister Phil Woolas said a Muslim teaching assistant should be sacked.

Aisha Azmi refused to remove her veil in front of male colleagues in Dewsbury in West Yorkshire. Labour peer Lord Ahmed’s angry it’s sparked a debate.

7.Events & Charities we support

RNIB – Royal National Institute for the Blind

An auction was held recently at Manchester United Football Ground to raise funds for RNIB.

Jobs and Events Fairs.:

These are held at various times of the year at venues across Greater Manchester in conjunction with JOB Centres etc.

Community Road Shows:

These are held in conjunction with local advertisers and community centres.

8.Coverage Highlights

Tsunami Disaster Appeal

Telephone appeal was held with listener participation – all programmes were held back for the day solely for the purpose of raising money.

Pakistan Earthquake Appeal.

Appeals for donations were held during normal programming – listener participating helped to generate generous amount of cash.
